It’s World Ranger Day – a day to celebrate the work rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural treasures. One such ranger is Brandon Torres of Grand Canyon National Park (top photo). Ranger Torres has dedicated his life to helping others as a park ranger, paramedic, law enforcement officer, rescuer, firefighter and instructor.
Then there is Ranger Roy Sullivan: The Chuck Norris of Park Rangers. Ranger Sullivan is one of the most storied rangers in the modern storied rangers in the modern National Park Service, holding the Guinness World Record for most survived lightning strikes on an individual. He was struck 7 times over the course of 40 years and lived through every single strike! The bottom photo shows Ranger Sullivan with his hat after it was struck by lightning.
